People suck!
ok so Ann Frank, who had every reason to hate the world, wrote in that infamous diary, "in spite of everything, i really do believe people are basically good at heart." If you are attached to that idea, stop reading!
Here is an example of how asshole-y people can be. There is a girl in my play who is FABULOUS and I love her and she's a terrific actress. She gets an email from this freak person no one has heard of, who asserts that Balm in Gilead is her favorite play (TOTALLY wacko, obviously) and it was the first show she saw at UNC and this girl ruined it for her. She went on to accuse her of upstaging the actors, misinterpretting the character, and harassing the audience.
Now, not only is all of that completely untrue, but WHO DOES THAT? WHO? What kind of person attacks a college freshman who is here to learn? We are NOT paid actors. We are NOT professional. We should not have to put up with critics, or anyone like them. Not only that, the play cost a measely $5. How can you be upset if that's all you invested in the show? I mean, this person is, I guess, entitled to her opinion. if she hated our rendition of the play, fine. But you don't send an actor a long-ass email detailing everything that is wrong!! It was mean and completely uncalled for!
If you are not on my side yet, lemme finish with this. The last paragraph of this atrocious email instructed the girl to seek psychological counseling. How can you say that to someone after merely watching them act? They don't know her!
